NWJ Companies is a national, multi-family property ownership, investment and redevelopment organization that owns a $300 million dollar portfolio of 4,000 plus units in 18 markets. The company has grown by acquiring inefficiently -managed properties which meet company-identified improvement criteria. Founded in 1991 by Nickolas W. Jekogian, III, NWJ Companies' has grown significantly by adhering to this acquisition strategy. Projections for the coming year anticipate a 30%-40% growth rate.

NWJ Companies has developed a formula for success by creating economies of scale when selecting the markets in which they purchase non-institutional grade apartment buildings. The company began with the acquisition, recapitalization and redevelopment of four-story walk-up buildings in urban residential Philadelphia and Washington, DC. Over the years, the portfolio has expanded to include far larger properties in more markets including New York City; Baltimore, MD; Las Vegas, NV; Indianapolis, IN; Kansas City, MO; Columbus, OH; Phoenix, AZ; Albany, NY; Richmond, VA; Houston, TX; Albuquerque, NM; as well as Philadelphia, PA and Washington, D.C. While continuing to further solidify its holdings in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions, NWJ Companies is looking to expand into the South and Southwest regions of the United States.

NWJ operates its properties under the Signature Community brand (www.ASignatureCommunity.com) which is being rolled out as each property attains the quality standards, on-site management, and available features that Signature Community represents. Signature Community offers the resident a living experience well above the standards typical of this asset class including health club memberships, community business centers, local discounts, referral programs, free cable, and other amenities normally only found in larger more expensive properties.

NWJ Companies is comprised of four functional departments which handle critical areas of operations: Finance, Stabilization, Asset Management and Acquisitions. The Acquisitions Department has three divisions: Small-Cap Acquisitions, Portfolio and Lender Direct divisions. The Small-Cap Acquisitions division focuses on acquiring multi-family properties consisting of less than 500 units; the Portfolio division concentrates on large portfolio acquisitions consisting of a minimum of 500 units; and the Lender Direct division is responsible for acquiring distressed properties and loans directly from financial institutions. The combination of experienced management and real estate professionals, along with conservative acquisition procedures has supported the company's rapid annual growth. NWJ Companies' principle offices are located in New York City, NY and Philadelphia, PA, with ancillary offices throughout the country.
